Dr. Elizabeth Kappus grew up in southern Arkansas where riding horses and working at the local veterinary clinic were a huge part of her life.
Dr. Kappus developed an interest in veterinary medicine at an early age as she watched her grandfather (a retired veterinarian) care for the family's horses and dogs. She received her Bachelors in Animal Science in 2005 from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2009. Dr. Kappus was first employed in south Louisiana as an ambulatory equine veterinarian. After having her son, Gage, she switched from full time equine practice to small animal practice. Dr. Kappus was employed at Wexler Animal Hospital in Lafayette, La until moving to the East Texas area. She was an associate veterinarian at Quitman Animal Clinic in Quitman, TX for five years where she had a great opportunity to hone her ultrasound, medicine, and surgical skills. For the past two years Dr. Kappus has been searching for the right practice to purchase and in April she purchased Little Animal Hospital.
Dr. Kappus has been married to her husband Mike since 2006 and they have one son, Gage and one daughter Gentry. They have Jett, a Shetland sheepdog and several horses. Dr. Kappus enjoys all aspects of practice, with a special interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic ultrasound.
Dr. Carissa Dale is a recent veterinary graduate, receiving her DVM from Texas A&M University. She grew up just south of Fort Worth, in Joshua, Texas. She attended undergraduate and graduate school at Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Prior to veterinary school, living in Nacogdoches solidified her love of East Texas and she knew God would provide a way for her to one day come back. Dr. Dale was blessed to have a fantastic mentor who instilled in her the importance of quality veterinary medicine and gave her a love of surgery and internal medicine.
Dr. Dale enjoys baking, being outdoors and spending time with her family, particularly her nephew and nieces. Dr. Dale has two dogs, Wilbur and Cheyenne. Wilbur is a 6 year old fluff Schipperke comedian who is the life of the party. Cheyenne is a 12 year old Labrador/Doberman mix whose only concern in life is where the food is. They may have vastly different personalities but they are such a joy to be with.
Jennifer started as receptionist in April 2004 shortly after Dr. Susan Little opened her clinic. She then transitioned over the years to office manager.
She is currently studying for her Associates Degree in Business Management. She is a member of VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Managers Association) and founder and past president of the local chapter of East Texas Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. She enjoys all aspects of the business, including getting to know and love on the pets and the pet parents. When Jennifer has free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeremy and her children, Aiden, Elizabeth and her nephew Donavan. She also shares her home with 2 cats, Jetson and Sam and 2 dogs, Rocky and Sugar.
